SEAT is always striving to produce bigger, better and sportier cars to add to their compact and respect range of eager hatchbacks and family cars. Recently they have souped up some of their existing models to make them fit the environmentally friendly “Ecomotive” range. If you are intent on buying a new or used SEAT, these are the cars that you should look out for; as they save you money whilst still giving you engine power.

If you are only just thinking about the cars you may want to own in the future, however, then it is worth looking at the exciting and varying range of SEAT concept cars that they have released in the past few years.

First up was the B-Segment car being introduced in at some point soon to compete with the likes of the Peugeot 407 and the Ford Mondeo. Aiming to be released in a smart saloon and functional estate version, the initial drawings of this designs show something a little bit BMW-esque, but with that same SEAT attitude. The bonnet and nose of the car may be long and defined, with the rear being sleek and, from the drawings, not unlike the stylish Chrysler Crossfire.

Some much more defined concept cars have been shown at shows around the globe this annum.

The most surprising design was perhaps shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show, an event that never fails to produce car concepts that shock and surprise the motoring world. The surprise here was a complete break from the SEAT mould. Much in the same way that the Alhambra model throws a random MPV design into the SEAT mix, so this car could redefine the brand’s reputation for mainly providing snappy, nippy little hatchbacks.

The car itself is named the “Tribu”. Demonstrated in a bold mustardy yellow, this is a compact SUV design that seems to be packed with that distinctive SEAT attitude. From the distinctive and instantly recognisable grill through to the sleek lines and huge tires, this combines the typical styling in a more exaggerated fashion - part SUV, part nippy sportscar. This combination is unusual, and in combination with the high end technology specifications that SEAT lists the end result may be something that just about every soccer mum will dream about.

The third concept car is a little more along the predictable SEAT model lines. This car, the SportCoupé Bocanegra, follows the same sporty SEAT heritage that all the used SEAT models have, but with a little bit of an upgrade hinting at executive family saloons and a more stylish future yet to arrive. The front end of this car is the most distinctive area, partially clad in a dark clear section that completely changes the otherwise typical shape, making it seem even more like a coupe that its curves already had. Marked as a “landmark” design for the team, this small car heralds the beginning of a long line of SEAT concept cars to come.

All in all the options are varied, and suggest the SEAT are planning to move in much more exciting directions, taking a break from the norm to produce something future SEAT owners will no doubt love.
