Yes! Every person who has achieved significant goals is a lifelong self-directed learner. These people have the habit of engaging in educating themselves continually. They don’t only know it’s the key to their success, they also love doing it.

Personal Power is Impossible to Achieve If Your Whole Body is Reacting With Mismanaged Fear By Jean Starling

I’m sure you’ve heard it said it’s not about feeling the fear….it’s about feeling the fear and doing it anyway. Who among us doesn’t feel fear when we are beginning a new thing no matter how simple this new thing might appear to others. And who among us doesn’t feel fear when we are moving out of our comfort zone. We all feel the fear. The degree of fear we feel is dependent on our own personal emotional fear and discomfort tolerances.

Actually we are much healthier when we not only feel the fear but breathe in the fear and sit with it for as long as it takes to see that the actual fear is not going to harm us after all. Depending on the situation you may need to get under the surface fear to the true driving fear and investigate it. But for now let’s just repeat, it’s not that having the fear is a problem it’s allowing the fear to stop us from progressing in our lives and business.

Emotional intelligence is your ability to be aware of your emotions, to manage them, to be aware of the emotions of the people around you and to manage yourself in the midst of these emotions.

As you recall from my article yesterday, I hadn’t done such a good job of that with April bucking and kicking and almost uncontrollable with her fear. Her fear and her actions ignited my fear so for a short while we were both out of control.

Now finally regaining my own personal power I began my work with April to help her to manage her fear and anxiety. I picked up my long black whip and pointing it at her hip I forced her out on the rail and clucked to her to get her into a lope.

Over and over again I asked her to lope first one way… then interrupting her lope about half way around the pen… I asked her to lope the other way. She was still so full of fear that she couldn’t pay attention to me. We kept up our pace with me forcing her to go one way then another for about ten minutes before she calmed down enough to listen to me.

Watching her run around and around I began to muse about my own personal power…how we as people are no different than the horses. When we’re so full of fear that it engulfs us there’s no way for us to hear anything of value and certainly we can’t do anything of value.

I had to get April physically and mentally tired before she could settle down enough to hear me. As humans when our bodies are tense and our minds are frozen with fear we have to have a way to relieve the negative emotions before we can move forward.

You can use this same method for yourself.

Do some physical activity to relieve your excess stress and then perform a mental activity that will get your focus off the fear and onto something else. After spending some time on this physical and mental activity you’ll find you will be able to face your fears in a more controlled way and move on with your activities.

Personal power is about using your emotional intelligence to move yourself and the situation forward.

How to Achieve Your Goals - Go Out There and Make it Happen By Omar Negron

Don’t you wish it was easy to achieve your goals? Well we all do. Unfortunately not all of our dreams become realities.Here’s the problem, when making a goal most people don’t commit to them. Can you relate in some way? Sometimes this happens to me but we have to make sure that we don’t make a habit. Here are some quick tips and goal setting that you can follow and should be fairly simple.

Devote some time to brainstorming. Take 20 minutes out of your day to sit down and relax. Don’t over analyze anything. Just write down what you want big or small when you truly desire and want out of your life.Everything that you ever wanted in your life anything that you really want to get just write it down.

I’m sure there’s a lot of goals long-running in your head right now,but now is the time to sit and pick one. Pick the one goal that would have the most impact on your life and strive towards it. If it’s a goal that will take more than one year to fulfill try to break it down to small goals so it does seem more realistic to you.

Concentrate on that one goal. It’s a bad idea to start going from goal to goal even though it sounds like a good idea. Focus your time on one and continue to work at it. Once you achieve it it will make it that much better. When you make a goal you really have to make a commitment to achieve it in expose potential. One goal gives you clarity 10 goals give you chaos.

Setting Yourself Up For Outrageous Success By Lenore Miller

It is often said we overestimate what we can do in one year and underestimate what we can do in 10.

So when we set those New Year’s resolutions to loose 50kgs (110 pounds), quit smoking, exercise daily, make our first million or whatever else your heart desires, we often set ourselves up for failure, not success. Why do I say this? Well how many times have you set goals at New Year’s and by January 31 you’re already feeling like a failure? I have certainly done this in the past.

In early 2007 I found my goal book from 2002. I had laid out my goals with pictures and inspirational words, lots of colour and enthusiasm. When I started to look through this book I realised that whilst I hadn’t achieved many of these goals during 2002, I had achieved all of them by the time I was looking at the book in early 2007, five years later. How do you think I felt? I was excited. This meant I had always been on track; I had just underestimated how long some of the goals would take me, or maybe I had lessons to learn along the way that would help me achieve these goals.

So do I still set goals? You bet I do, and I set them for this year with a vision for where I want to be in five and 10 years.

I decide who I want to be now (and in 10 years from now) and what I want to achieve in all areas of my life, then I go about setting my goals for the next year that will lead me towards my 10-year vision. For example, if I want to be fit, vital and healthy in 10 year’s time (which I do), I may set a goal to exercise four times a week, shed 20 kilos (44 pounds) and source more organic produce to use in our home. Then when I get to the end of the year, having shed 12 kilos, exercised on average 2-3 times per week and 50 per cent of our household food is organic, then am I successful or not?

In the old system of setting one-year goals I would feel like I had not achieved all I wanted and would have felt a failure. However, I am still on track to my 10-year goal. I am exercising more, I have certainly leaned up and I am moving toward my 80 per cent organic lifestyle.

So even when you feel a little off track or you are not reaching your goal as quickly as you’d like, remember the only time we fail is when we give up. Off track does not mean failure - it just means you need to refocus and there may be other things you need to learn or do first before you can achieve that goal.

The important thing is to notice your progress and the changes you have already made toward your goal or vision.

Outrageously Healthy Tip: Decide where you want to be in 10 years and the kind of person you need to become to achieve that goal. Then work backwards: who do I need to be to achieve that vision and what would that person need to do? Start fleshing out the small steps you can take today, tomorrow and over the next year.
