Obstacles to Success - Part 1 By Kris Cavanaugh

Obstacles to Success - Part 1 By Kris Cavanaugh

Everyone has an ideal vision of how they would like their life to be, and typically obstacles always appear which make it more difficult to make those visions a reality. The easy part is expecting obstacles to get in the way of what we truly desire. The real challenge is to investigate the reason behind the obstacle and find ways to overcome it.

Obstacles cause us to lose momentum as we are trying to achieve our visions and goals. They often make us feel stuck. Sadly, the longer we feel stuck, the more likely we are to give up on whatever it is we were striving towards.

The best thing we can do when facing an obstacle is to consider the obstacle a wonderful opportunity to learn something new about ourselves. Yes, you read that correctly - obstacles are a WONDERFUL way to help us improve our personal development skills. I can attest to that personally.

There have been times in my life that I set out to achieve or obtain something that was very important to me. Inevitably, along the way, I encountered obstacles both big and small. Sometimes the process of overcoming those obstacles helped me improve personality traits that needed to be adjusted, and other times the process uncovered new abilities I didn’t even know existed. For me, it’s always a neat experience to look back and see how I’ve changed for the better during a challenging time. My attitude about obstacles is my biggest asset: I don’t usually like them, but I always respect their ability to make me a better person over time.

One of the reasons the coaching industry has been so successful over the last decade is because people are genuinely tired of being stuck in whatever circumstance they are in. When that “stuck” feeling gets too overwhelming to ignore, people often invest in a coaching program to help them move forward. I always tell my clients before they start their coaching program that the change process will often be difficult. Below is a section of my contract that I ask my clients to read and sign, just to make sure they are aware of what it will take to successfully achieve the life they want. Note the bold area in the second paragraph which specifically addresses the obstacles they will encounter:

The bigger your dreams, the more obstacles you will inevitably face. How you handle them is the often the key factor towards your road to success. So the next time you are facing an obstacle, take a deep breath and focus on what you can learn instead of the “pain” you are currently feeling.

In Part 2 of this series, we will discuss the two kinds of obstacles people often face: internal and external. Until then, feel free to email me back with any comments you have or suggestions for future email series.

Identifying & Tackling Obstacles Exercise

Think about a current obstacle you are facing: a circumstance you are tolerating, a difficult conflict you are struggling with, or a change you don’t want to make, but know you need to.

• What is stopping you?
• What makes this hard to get done?
• What one resource or tool would make all the difference if you had it?
• What’s the worse-case scenario if you did decide to tackle this issue once and for all?

Spend time thinking about the answers to those questions, and let me know if I can help you in any way.

Have a wonderful day, and remember to keep your eyes open for all the exciting possibilities within and around you!

I’m Not One For New Year’s Resolutions But This New Way of Seeing Things Will Make For a Great 2009 By Gaynor Parke

I’m Not One For New Year’s Resolutions But This New Way of Seeing Things Will Make For a Great 2009 By Gaynor Parke

For the first time in my life as I look at the year that is coming to an end I happily look back over my life and the first thing that occurs to me is my appreciation of all the people who have pissed me off in the past. Hmm, “she’s gone crazy” do I hear you say? Well in the past I would agree with that statement. But now, I know that this is the best way to feel. I’m not trying to feel appreciative, I just am appreciative. In the past when I looked at all the people who had caused me pain, I was angry and resentful toward them and most of you, dear reader, if you knew my story would agree that I had a good reason to be angry at them. But now, I feel deep and true appreciation to those people. Are you asking why? Are you thinking I have gone all religious and wacky? Well I feel all that has happened is that I am seeing the world how it really is.

I know in the world there are things that please me and there are things that do not please me and I am free to choose how I feel about all of it. I have known that for some time now and it feels so good. I have been practicing feeling good in all circumstances and I believe I have been very successful therefore loving life more than ever. The side affect of feeling good is that circumstances in my world are reflecting wonderful things back to me, so I am enjoying life more and choosing to feel good about that and more lovely things come and I appreciate them and on and on.

There is another part of life though and that is the experience of contrasting or unwanted experiences. In the past I have pushed against those experiences with great force trying to eradicate them. Now, I realize that is because of those experiences, I created an even stronger wanting for the opposite of those experiences and when I got in alignment with joy and appreciation, those things that I did want, manifested in my life. So you see, the annoyance, the resentment, the anger, the pain I felt due to having certain people in my life only fueled a greater desire for wonderful experiences and that is a wonderful thing.

When I have the choice to create a desire and I do, and I have the choice to come into alignment with that desire by feeling good about things and I do, then those things that cause me to create greater desires are actually assisting me live a better life. Sound crazy? Well when you understand that we all have the choice to feel good or not feel good at any moment in time and the universe through the Law Of Attraction creates our desires then it is easy to appreciate those that helped you create really powerful desires.

So on this last day of the best year of my life I want to send out great big bouquets to all the people in my life that caused my great pain and say to them that if it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t be having such a wonderful time, so thank you.

I know I am the creator of my world as are you dear reader and I wish you all wonderful things and really irritating things too in 2009 so you can clarify all the things you want and send your order off to the Universe, for once it is sent, it will be delivered to you if you appreciate where you are and joyously look forward to what is ahead. Because of The Law Of Attraction, The Universe must reflect back to you what you put your attention on so enjoy it all and have a magnificent 2009, warts and all.

With much love and appreciation

Success at Last - Life Really is the Learning Ground By Steve Wickham

Published by admin under Self Improvement, Success

Success at Last - Life Really is the Learning Ground By Steve Wickham

M. Scott Peck said in his 20th Century classic Wisdom from the Road Less Traveled,

“Our view of reality is like a map with which to negotiate the terrain of life… we are not born with maps; we have to make them, and the making requires effort. The more effort we make to appreciate and perceive reality, the larger and more accurate our maps will be. But many do not want to make this effort.”

The whole purpose of life is wrapped up in building a large and true map of reality, and we do this via learning and that is an intentional process that requires a lot of effort.

I have dedicated my life to the processes of facilitation, coaching and advising in areas of my knowledge, skill and experience. The only way I can achieve what I set out to do is to cogently focus on learning.

And when I look at the teaching aspects of my life roles, I find that the saying, ‘The teacher learns twice’ is apt. Constant learning (and a keen openness for it) for those in teaching and training roles is critical.

There are at least three (3) challenges to learning and the development of maps:

1. UNLEARNING

We need to unlearn the things we learned incorrectly in the first place. Perhaps we had bad models or were shown bad processes. Perhaps we simply didn’t listen or learn properly. We’re destined to need to unlearn many things, and, all through life it is a necessary thing because no one learns everything perfectly.

2. RELEARNING

We need to relearn the things we learned once, but then never used again, or have neglected since. These are possibly things we might have considered ourselves to be guru’s in once-upon-a-time, but lack of practice has rendered the knowledge, skill or experience worthless or compromised.

3. ADAPTING TO A CHANGING WORLD OR ENVIRONMENT

Peck mentions also that the world is constantly changing so we have to change our maps (and adapt) as required–this requires character because none of us really wants to relinquish hard-earned knowledge and successful ways of doing things. Change is inevitable.

To be successful in life we must embrace learning, even in situations where we’d rather not expend the effort. Effort equals results.

Education Loans In India By Max Bellamy

Published by admin under Education Abroad, Financial-Aid

India is a developing country and is forging ahead to create a definite niche in the global economy. Education is an important factor for the development of any country. India is not far behind in an attempt to provide education to every child by granting education loans to students. All banks in India provide education loans to students for studies in India, as well as abroad. Apart from banks, there are a number of charitable institutions and other private funding associations in India that provide education loans to students.

There are a large number of Indian students who prefer to go abroad for their post-graduation studies. The loans prove to be a boon, mainly to the students whose education and stay abroad would be very costly. Some private banks grant education loans and also cover the expenses of lodging and travel. Most private banks in India offer flexible options related to education loans. Certain private banks offer very low interest rates and give various allied benefits to the borrowers, by opening a savings account for them or providing them with debit cards. Some banks also provide customized education loans, created for specific requirements. They grant secured as well as unsecured loans. Secured loans can be repaid in seven years by holding residential properties or shares as security. The unsecured loans can be repaid in four years. Various banks offer exclusive schemes on educational loans to their customers, of six months or more.

The education loans in India are mostly granted to the parents of the students, unless or until the students are eligible, above 18 years of age. Most nationalized and private banks providing education loans, take the authorization of the college or university into consideration. They do not grant loans to students who are not from approved educational institutions.

Education Loans provides detailed information on Education Loans, Government Education Loans, Private Education Loans, Higher Education Loans and more. Education Loans is affiliated with Consolidate College Loans.
