iven the harsh economic times, finding and securing a new job could be a daunting task. It is estimated that almost 100 people apply for every same job today; this is a lot of competition, therefore you need to create a CV and cover letter that will present you in your best light, emphasizing on your skills and abilities. If you want to know how to build a resume that will let your knowledge shine brighter than others, here are a few tips and hints for you:
- Check and double check the CV you are sending. It might seem weird to you but there are numerous people who sent CVs full of spelling and grammar mistakes. Even the smallest error can make the potential employer turn you down right away. Sending a CV that contains spelling or other mistakes, you show that you don’t pay much attention to details, that you are somewhat sloppy or even lazy and that you are probably not the right person to represent the company.
- Keep the sentence short and punchy. Avoid rambling and make the content interesting and easy to read. Make your CV look dynamic and appealing to the employer.
- Focus on your personal achievements; if you have a significant amount of experience, you should definitely emphasize on it.
- Focus on positive aspects and add some boosting words, such as creatively, assertively and other. Do not underestimate the power of words.
- Do not create a too long resume: A CV longer than 3 pages will be automatically rejected; people do not have time to read small novels, especially in the case that there are 99 more applicants. Try to be precise and to the point. Include relevant and appealing information. If your resume won’t be more than two pages you can include everything you want, as long as they are presented in a well appointed way.
