Car Dealers - Do Your Research Before You Sign on the Dotted Line! by Pete Ridgard

Buying a new car can be a stressful ordeal. In times like these when cash is tight and finance is tricky, motorists need to be especially resourceful to ensure they get the best deal they can. Indeed, there are a huge variety of deals and incentives on offer at the moment, but don’t let allow your guard to slip - always know exactly what it is you are buying before you sign the dotted line!
Whilst the motor industry struggles with the current financial climate, it is arguable that now is the ideal time to invest in a new car. Car Dealers are keen to bring customers over to their forecourt and as such, it is possible that the customer is even more empowered than ever before: the dealers are more willing to work with the customer to come to an agreed deal. A little bit of haggling might just take you a long way. Indeed, you might just be driving home with a deal that simply wouldn’t exist in twelve months time.
On a different note, many motorists visit ‘car supermarkets’. The idea behind these car supermarkets is wonderful - you can wander in with £100 in your pocket, look around thousands of cars, all available to look around in and test drive, and you can even drive one home the very same day on finance. However, such convenience does come at a price - it would appear that these car supermarkets aren’t the best in terms of value for money. If you do the legwork yourself, you may be able to find the exact same car elsewhere for a lower price. So, before being drawn in by the fancy lights, be sure to check out your local car dealers and see what they have to offer.
However, there are those motorists who, instead of taking advantage of the government scrappage scheme and the wide array of other deals on offer for new cars, chose to cut costs and buy cheaper, more budget used cars. Whilst buying a used car is most certainly a way to get you the car you want at a lower price, motorists must be vigilant with what they buy and who they negotiate with. Used cars may have a hidden past or other nasty surprises hidden up their sleeves. Furthermore, if they are bought from a dubious independent dealer, only more stress and heartache lay ahead. Obviously not every used car is a sinister entity waiting to pounce and cause huge amounts of inconvenience and stress, but one should always bear such things in mind.
Whether you chose to buy a new or a used car, ultimately you should just be certain of what you are buying before you buy it. Yes, you get what you pay for, but that doesn’t mean to say there aren’t any bargains around to be had. All you have to do is do your homework. Check out your local car dealers and see what they can offer you.
